Santa Fe Pro Musica was founded in 1980 by creative husband-and-wife team Tom O’Connor (General Director) and Carol Redman (Education and Associate Artistic Director). After many incarnations over its quarter-century life, including an affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, Santa Fe Pro Musica embodies the vision of its founders: a performing arts and educational music nonprofit.

Santa Fe Pro Musica is nationally recognized for its artistry in performance and accessibility to the community. Its nine-month concert season, which runs concurrently with the academic year, emphasizes the performance of historically-informed (that is, with respect to the intentions of the composer) orchestral and ensemble concerts, at the highest artistic level.

Santa Fe Pro Musica and the Smithsonian Chamber Players have recorded two CDs for Dorian Records, featuring the compositions for chamber orchestra of Gustav Mahler. The organization regularly collaborates with other performing arts groups in the region.

Our Mission: Santa Fe Pro Musica brings together outstanding musicians to inspire and educate audiences of all ages through the performance of great music.
